twowaypath TAI canon: Star Wars (Rise of Kylo Ren comics) canon point: After his death canon cw: A lot of death brief bio: Tai is a student of Luke Skywalker's and one of few Jedi-in-training to survive (briefly) the destruction of their school. He is a kind-hearted and persistent young man who believes heavily in the power of personal choice. As a long-time friend of Ben Solo’s, he was hesitant to believe his friend was lost to the Dark Side, and he tried desperately to get him to turn around, coming very close to succeeding. relationship status: Single. Had some romantic feelings toward Ben that were never fully acknowledged. apparent age: Early 20s appearance: picture identifying marks; He might have a couple of minor scars from things like training mishaps, but nothing really noticeable. mental state: Primarily, Tai is feeling lost and confused. His entire world had been flipped upside-down in the few days before he arrived here. He had spent years in the routine of being a Jedi student, only to come back one day to find it all destroyed. Most of his fellow students died in a fire that he only avoided by chance, and that’s a reality he has yet to truly confront. He's also going to struggle with the fact that he is, in fact, dead, even if he lasted a little longer than most of the other students and died a different way. Beyond that, his best friend was heavily involved in the events that transpired. He was able to get some answers from Ben, but not enough to really figure out just how much of the destruction was Ben's fault or what exactly sent him on a path to the Dark Side. Tai doesn't blame himself, but he will worry about how he was blindsided by it and wonder about what else he could have done. ABILITIES Telekinesis- Jedi can move things with their minds. In this environment, he can only lift/move things he could physically. Extrasensory perception- Jedi are extremely attuned to their environment and can often sense major happenings at a distance or finely predict the motions of things that are close. I would guess that this environment generally leans toward messing with this, and that there would be places this sense would just completely fail, or even cause him to pick up on things that aren’t actually real. Empathy- Tai in particular is adept at reading the emotions of others. While Tai wasn’t aware of Ben’s secrets, he was explicitly conscious of the fact that Ben had certain parts of himself very well shielded. The weirdness of his perceptions otherwise in this place will probably cast a bit of doubt here, as well. Please fill out the permission form further down for this. Healing- Tai can remove pain from someone who is injured, though it doesn't really help the wound heal any faster. Magic anaesthetic. Influence- Jedi can plant thoughts into the minds of others. This only works on people who don’t have any defenses against it, and it’s hard to imagine Tai would use this skill frequently. He would probably only try it as a last resort. Please fill out the permission form further down for this. Combat- Tai is generally physically fit and trained to fight with a lightsaber. That training would make him capable of fighting well in general, but since lightsabers are weightless aside from the handle, he will probably find any other form of weapon awkward, at least at first. He’s also used to being able to rely on his sense of the environment (see above) so that being affected will throw him off a bit physically as well. Piloting a spaceship- What it says on the tin. Probably completely useless in this environment, though might make him somewhat able to figure out any other kind of vehicle that might exist. IC PERMISSIONS physical affection: Tai is generally okay with friendly touch. flirting: You're welcome to, but it might go over his head. relationships: Tai has read a lot of Jedi texts that were of the opinion that emotional attachments are dangerous. He doesn't really buy into that, but still, a romantic relationship is something he's never really expected in his life. He'd be open to it if it happened, but not looking. sex: Probably only in the context of the hypothetical relationship above. fighting: Sure. He's trained and he'll mostly try to deescalate. injury/death: If it fits the circumstances, sure. Ask first. psychic information: Tai has been trained in his own psychic abilities, so he'll be pretty resistant to others using them against him. If he's aware of someone trying, he'll probably call them out on it. triggers: The only things that might really throw him are also things he really needs to take the time to process, so I don't think there's anything to specifically avoid.
